AMTEUR vol3
We are delighted to announce that in the upcoming AMATEUR vol3 exhibition, we will be featuring the works of two painters and one sculptor. These three artists delve into the concept of "image," each engaging with it in their own unique way.
KINJO, born and based in Tokyo but with roots tracing back to Okinawa, draws inspiration from his upbringing surrounded by American candies, magazines, and various cultural elements regularly sent by his Okinawan grandparents. Immersed in American skateboarding culture later in life, KINJO's compositions reflect a collage of elements from his surroundings, subtly articulating situations deeply ingrained in our collective consciousness.
Hasegawa, who specializes in three-dimensional works, brings a diverse background to his art. A graduate of Tokyo University of the Arts, he has also pursued a career as a monk. Influenced by Beat culture and punk rock, Hasegawa explores the intersections between Buddhist philosophy, existentialism, and the cultural milieu he navigates daily, transforming these influences into tangible forms that challenge and engage viewers.
In contrast, Ishida, whose work unfolds in two dimensions, conjures nostalgic tableaus rooted in old fairy tales and folklore. Drawing on imagery from these narratives, Ishida reconstructs them into evocative compositions that invite viewers to rediscover familiar stories in entirely new contexts, where elements stripped from their original tales coalesce to create enigmatic narratives.
While each artist employs a distinct approach to reimagining the imagery of their surroundings, collectively they provoke a reconsideration of the familiar images and narratives that shape our perceptions. We invite you to join us for an exhibition that promises to challenge and captivate, inviting fresh perspectives on the images that surround us daily.

この度AMTEUR vol3では絵画作家2名、彫刻家1名の三人による展示を行います。
イメージというものに向き合い、再構築している三名の作家になります。
KINJOは東京に生まれながらも、家族のルーツは沖縄にあります。幼少期より沖縄にいる祖父母から定期的に送られてくるアメリカのお菓子や雑 誌、様々なものに触れながら育った彼ですが、その後もスケートボードなどのアメリカのカルチャーに囲まれながら生活をしてきました。ブリコラー ジュ的に身の回りにある要素で画面を構成し、我々がいつの間にか目にして刷り込まれている状況を表しているように思えます。
立体作品を展示している長谷川は異色の経歴をもち、東京藝術大学を修了した後、修行を経て僧侶としても活動しています。ビートカルチャーやパ ンクロックに影響を受けた彼は仏教やその他宗教における哲学性、死生観と彼が慣れ親しんできたカルチャーとの共通点を見出しながら、日常目 にするイメージを使いながら作品へと昇華させています。
奥のスペースにて平面作品を展開している石田ですが、彼が描き出すどこかノスタルジックな情景は昔の童話や民話に基づいており、ストーリーや キャラクター自体からイメージを参照した上でそれらを再構築しています。元のストーリーから引き剥がされたイメージは作品上で他のモチーフと不 思議な共存関係を構築しながら全く異なる意味と環境で再度私たちの前に出現します。
作家三名とも、身の回りにあるイメージを直接的に使用しながら作品内で再構築をしていく手法をとりつつもその参照ルーツは異なり、アウトプット も絵画から彫刻と異なります。我々が普段目にする情報やそれに付随したイメージや、その出所について改めて考えさせられる展示となっておりま す。
